Galvanic corrosion occurs when 2 different metals are in contact with each other & are situated in a sufficiently strong electrolyte solution.

If this is not sufficiently anticipated or when this occurs "under the radar", this form of corrosion can very rapidly lead to catastrophic failure of one of these two materials.
